George E. Heffernan, 95, of Camillus, passed away Saturday at Upstate University Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a 1945 graduate of Blodgett Vocational High School and a Navy veteran of WWII. George was employed for over 20 years with Raymond Corporation, retiring in 1992. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of the Camillus Elks Club. George coached Little League baseball, enjoyed camping, traveling and was an avid NY Yankees and SU fan. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
George was predeceased by his first wife, Irene, in 1998 and his second wife, Jean, in 2019.
Surviving are his daughter, Nancy Heffernan of Dallas, TX; sons, Edward (Cheryl) of Camillus and John (Teddi) of Memphis; grandchildren, Brendan, Thomas and Stephen Heffernan; great-grandchildren, Owen, Miles, Luke and Sloane; sister, Patricia Gordon of Buffalo; and several nieces and nephews.
The family of George would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Stevenson family for their loving care and compassion.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, June 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 29 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church.
George will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
