George H. Foster, 89, of Camillus, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at Crouse Hospital. Born into a large family in Palmyra, he moved and attended school in Skaneateles, graduating in 1947. George was married to his bride, Georgia, for 49 years. From an early age, he worked hard and ran his own propane business. That business transformed into an appliance and used furniture business, and finally into Foster’s Auction Service. In every endeavor, George demonstrated honesty and a love for people and that love and respect was returned from family, customers and friends.
George grew up with seven brothers and two sisters, with all but two of his siblings predeceasing him. His youngest daughter, Lori, also predeceased him at a young age and he missed her throughout his life.
After marrying, George and Georgia raised seven children together, Cliff (Brenda) Foster, Sharon Creedon, Kathy (Mark) Sears and Lori Foster; and three stepsons, Gary (Diane) Schoonmaker, Alan (Liza) Schoonmaker and Wayne (Mary) Schoonmaker. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
There are far too many stories to include here, but it is safe to say that there are many fond memories of family, business and casinos. He was a lucky man!
