George E. Jones

George E. Jones, 87, of Syracuse, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at Upstate University Hospital at Community General.  Born in Lafayette, IN, he grew up in Skaneateles.  He was a graduate of Skaneateles High School and Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. George was a pharmacist for Rite Aid for 21 years, retiring in 1992 and formerly owned North Rose Pharmacy for six years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.  He enjoyed reading and was very interested in current events and politics.  He loved spending time with his family. George was predeceased by his brother, Howard. Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Aron, whom he married in 1988; sons, Gary (Sandy) and Bruce (Nancy), both of Orlando, FL, and Mike (Kate) of Leland, NC; grandchildren, Joe Jones of Atlanta, GA, Dan and Emily Jones of Orlando, FL; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Memorial services with military honors will be Saturday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to the CNY SPCA, 5878 E. Molloy Rd., Mattydale, NY  13211.
