Geno E. Pesci, 83, of Syracuse, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse. Born in Freeport, Pennsylvania on Sunday, November 2, 1924, he was the son of Massimo Pesci and Matilda Gasparini Pesci. He lived in Lackawanna, New York for more than 40 years and Clearwater, Florida until moving to the Syracuse area in 2005. Geno was a 1943 graduate of Freeport High School. He received a Bachelor's degree from Geneva College and a Master's degree from Canisius College. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Geno taught history for the Lackawanna City School District and also worked for the Teachers' Federal Credit Union. He was a former communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Camillus and Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #2243 Fr. Baker Council and enjoyed golfing, gardening and cooking. Geno's wife, the former Marietta Hanley, died in 1991. Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Mike and Peggy Pesci of Syracuse and Brian Pesci of Binghamton; grandchildren, Kathleen, David, Daniel Geno, Matthew and Joshua; sisters, Rose and Edith of Freeport, Pennsylvania; brother, Mario of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2007 in St. Joseph's Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Sunday, December 16, 2007 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna, New York.
