Gene Raymond Lariviere, 78, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was born on October 29,1944 to the late Edwin and Marilyn. A United States Army veteran, he served from 1961-1965. Gene was employed by the Onondaga County Department of Correction for 21 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed cruising in his favorite black Mustang and spending time with his beloved dogs.
Gene is predeceased by his brothers, Edwin and Donald.
Surviving are his loving wife of 36 years, Janice; sons, Glen Lariviere and Christopher (Kristin) O’Hara; daughters, Kelly Lariviere, Melanie (Eric) Radcliffe and Christine (David) Disque; sisters, Dolores, Melody and Marcie; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, October 5, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A graveside service will follow at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Rd., Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue, 7268 Caswell St., No. Syracuse, NY 13212.
