Gary L. Moyer

Gary L. Moyer, 60, of Solvay, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009 at home. Born in Syracuse on Thursday, August 26, 1948, he was the son of Giddell L. Moyer and Mildred Fern Sleeth Moyer. After spending his early years in Syracuse, he lived in Solvay for 32 years. Gary was a 1967 graduate of Westhill High School. He was an assistant highway superintendent with the Town of Geddes Highway Dept., retiring in January 2005 after 37 years. Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing and attending NASCAR races. His family, especially his grandchildren, were the pride and joy of his life. His father, Giddell L. Moyer, died in 1985. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, the former Teresa Palumbo; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and David Young; grandchildren, Quentin and Justine Young; mother, Mildred F. Sleeth Moyer; sister, Brenda Guyder, all of Syracuse; and several nephews and cousins. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus with Sister Baptiste, OSF officiating. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Gary will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
