Frederick Joseph Pooler, 79, of Syracuse, died Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Saturday, July 31, 1926, he was the son of Frederick Joseph Pooler and Ellen Marie Comerford. He was a graduate of the Cathedral School and lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. Fred was formerly employed for more than 20 years by Continental Can Co. and more recently employed by Syracuse Cold Storage, retiring in 1991 after 15 years. He was a member of the All-Pro Parochial High School League. Fred's wife, the former Joan Davison, died August 6, 2001. He was also predeceased by his brother, John Erickson and sisters, Ann Mulins and Marie Newcomb. Surviving are his sons, Michael (Paula) of Liverpool and Stephen (Joanne) of Camillus; sister, Genevieve Cooper of San Jacinto, California; brother, Leonard of Carolina Beach, North Carolina and grandchildren, Nicole and Michael of Liverpool and Stephanie, Joseph and Stephen of Camillus. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2005 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Wednesday, August 24, 2005 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
