Frank J. Sykes, 94, of Fairmount, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at New York State Veterans Home at Oxford. Born and raised in Syracuse, he moved to Fairmount in 1959. A graduate of Blodgett Vocational School, Frank was a Coast Guard veteran of WWII and employed with Crucible Specialty Metals for 44 years before retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. Frank was also a member of the Crucible Management Club and Crucible Retirees Club.
Frank was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Ann; sisters, Lottie Kazel, Clara Callahan, Florence Karasinski and Stella Henry; and brother, Raymond Sojka.
Surviving are his daughters, Judith Martin, Janice (Jan) Robertson and Jo (Robert) Sykes-Smith; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be private. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
