Frank Albert Ives, 82, of Auburn, passed to see bright sunrises and sunsets on Saturday, at the Finger Lakes Center for Living. He was born in Rices, NY, a small town near Watertown, to the late Gordon Ives and Charlotte Vrooman Ives.
Frank was a proud and dedicated 57-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 545/158, where he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and served as a union business representative. His dedication to his job and to his union brothers and sisters was evident throughout his long and fulfilling career.
An avid outdoorsman, Frank was a longtime member of the Mad River Sportsman Club, where he enjoyed spending time in nature. When not outdoors, he found joy working in his woodshop, crafting beautiful pieces of furniture that will be cherished for generations. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends, filling his days with laughter and love.
Frank embraced life with kindness, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to those he loved. His unconditional love for his family, union brothers and sisters, and friends was the cornerstone of his life, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Frank’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Finger Lakes Center for Living, Auburn Community Hospital’s Emergency Department, Radiology, 4 Central, and 3rd Memorial Staff for their compassionate care. A special thank you to those who donate blood every day.
Frank was predeceased by his wife, Carol; and sister, Mary (Bill) Johnson.
Surviving are his loving wife, Judith Reilley Ives; daughters, Belinda Ives of Manchester, Laura Brown of Adams, Marie (Michael) Murray of Austin, TX and Mary (Donald II) Russell of Pennellville; step-children, Michael (Kathleen) Westlake of Sennett, Dr. Brian (Michelle) Westlake of Bloomfield, and Brandy (Richard) Schill of Brockport; six grandchildren, Laura, Kayla, Megan, Max, Donald, and Mindy; four great-grandchildren, Darien, Devin, Dawson and Zach; and four step-grandchildren, Brianna, Brynn, Shauna and Erica; and Vrooman, Johnson, and Ives cousins, nieces and nephews.
