Frances Kerschner, 88, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 in Eagan, Minnesota. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was born on Monday, March 10, 1924 and was the daughter of Solon W. Hyde and Ellen Spillett Hyde. She moved to Minnesota in 2008. Frances taught with the Syracuse City School District for 35 years, retiring in 1981. Her teaching career at Delaware School included first grade for two years, followed by 33 years in second grade. She loved to read and travel, but most of all, enjoyed her family. Frances was predeceased by her first husband, Charles D. Kerschner; and second husband, William Metzger. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Laurie (John Boyland) Kerschner of St. Paul, Minnesota; and granddaughter, Rebecca Kirk. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 16 at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church, Syracuse. Frances will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
