Frances J. Macro

Frances J. (Pontello) Macro, 82, of Camillus, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at University Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born in Syracuse on Tuesday, December 16, 1930, she was the daughter of Diego and Desolina (Petta) Pontello. After spending her early years in Syracuse, she and Joe moved to Camillus in 1958 to raise their family. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Frances was happiest cooking and caring for her family. When not busy at home, she was attending all of her grandchildren’s concerts, games and graduations. Frances worked at Pine Grove Tennis Club for many years, running tennis programs. Also an avid tennis player, she was a member of TACNY. Fran and Joe traveled extensively over the years. She was active with Camp Fire Girls for many years and was a former member of the Corinthian Club. Fran was a communicant of Holy Family Church and enjoyed spending the past 18 winters in Florida. Frances was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Nicholas, James, Angelo, Anthony, Patrick, Joseph and Carmen. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Joseph; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Nancy Macro of Camillus, and Marc and Tracy Macro of Elbridge; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and Patrick Koloski of Marcellus; grandchildren, Dylan, Monica, Lauren, Ashlee, Conor, Sean and Kendall; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Joan Pontello, and Edward and Barbara Pontello, all of Syracuse; and sisters-in-law, Helen Pontello of Syracuse and Rose Pontello of Georgia. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, May 14 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 in Holy Family Church. Frances will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
