Frances “Emily” Bowles, 86, of Onondaga Hill, passed away peacefully on Saturday. She was born November 7, 1936, in Jordan, NY, to the late George and Thelma Fillingham. A graduate of Red Creek High School, Emily was a waitress at Pensabene’s Park West Restaurant for many years before retiring from HSBC Bank as a bank teller. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who cherished spending time with her family. She enjoyed bird watching, trips to the casino, and baking.
Emily was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 67 years, Richard, in 2021; her grandson, Justin Bowles; granddaughter, Kylie Bowles; brother, Robert “Bobby” Fillingham; and sister, Leona Bowles.
Surviving are her children, Patricia (Terry) Town, Richard (Dorothy) Bowles Jr., Timothy Bowles, Thomas Bowles, MaryBeth (David) Condon, and Gerald (Doreen) Bowles; grandchildren, Stacey, Alan, Ashley, Todd, Cassandra, Tyler, Thomas, David, Jacob, Joshua, Cody, and Ally; great-grandchildren, Noah, Zoe, Max, Ava, Owen, Rory, Kieran, Elizabeth, and Stevie; brothers, George “Buddy” Fillingham and Dean Fillingham; sisters, Alice Sanzotta, Peggy Sherman, and Helene Houghtaling; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, August 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home.
The family would like to welcome everyone to Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse, where Emily will be laid to rest.
The family would also like to thank and express their gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Francis House and Hospice for their compassionate care during Emily’s final days.
