Felicja Guzelak, 86, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Sunday at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Vislok, Ukraine, she immigrated to the United States in 1976 in pursuit of new opportunities and adventures. She was a seamstress for Marsellus Casket Co. for over 25 years.
A communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Felicja found solace and strength in her faith. Her spirituality was not merely a part of her life, but the guiding force that shaped her character and touched the lives of those around her. Felicja's zest for life was evident in her diverse array of interests and hobbies. She could be found tending to her garden with loving care or creating intricate masterpieces through sewing and knitting. In moments of leisure, Felicja enjoyed challenging puzzles or birdwatching. Her culinary skills were renowned, with her delicious dishes and baked goods bringing comfort and delight to many. Amidst all her pursuits, Felicja greatest joy was found in the company of her cherished family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and generosity that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Felicja was predeceased by her husband, Andrew, in 2014; sisters, Maria and Anna; and brother, Michael.
Surviving are her daughters, Donna (Stefan) Dyczka and Renata Guzelak, both of Solvay, and Maria (Andrew) Serednycky of California; son, Andrew (Olga) Guzelak of Brewerton; sister, Maria Bednarz of Poland; grandson, Dan (Anne) Dyczka of Syracuse; granddaughters, Stephanie, Andriana, and Natalie Guzelak; great-grandsons, Sebastian and Luca Dyczka; and many nieces and nephews.
To honor Felicja’s life, family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m., with a Panakhyda service at 5 p.m., at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Syracuse.
Felicja will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Syracuse.
