Eva E. (Senock) Trojan, 88, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at The Centers at St. Camillus. Born and raised in Leisenring, Pennsylvania, Eva was the proud daughter of a coal miner, and her roots in the mining town shaped her strong work ethic and resilient spirit throughout her life.
Venturing beyond the familiar landscapes of her upbringing, Eva went to NYC where she met and married Edward and raised two children. Eva and Ed relocated to Kentucky, where she embraced the role of cafeteria aide in a local school. Her nurturing nature endeared her to the students she served, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who crossed her path. After living a short time in Ohio, she made Syracuse her home in 2017.
Among her many joys in life, Eva found solace and pleasure in simple pleasures such as playing bingo, completing word searches, and “going to the boat.” Her zest for life was evident in the way she embraced these activities with enthusiasm. Above all, Eva cherished moments spent with her family, creating enduring memories that will be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Eva was predeceased by her husband, Edward Sr. in 2010; son, Edward Jr. in 1995; four sisters and three brothers; and son-in-law, James Elder in 2016.
Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Elder of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, James Jr. (Cathlene) Elder, Victoria (Christopher) Bishop, Jacqueline Elder, Joseph (Karla) and Thomas Trojan; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Emma Bishop and Jackson and Allison Elder; sister, Agnes Haselow of Cleveland, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral Mass to celebrate Eva's life will be held Friday, November 17 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse.
Eva will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made to The Loretto Foundation, 700 E. Brighton Ave., Syracuse, NY 13205, to support the organization's mission and honor Eva's memory in a meaningful way.
Eva Trojan's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her warm spirit and loving presence will be dearly missed.
