Ernestine Cain Gadoua, 91, of Providence House, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Community-General Hospital. Born on Friday, July 4, 1913 in Ste. Clotilde, Quebec, she was the daughter of Amable Chenail and Sophronie Daigneault. She became a U.S. citizen in 1942. Ernestine was employed by Hotel Syracuse and retired in 1982 from C.C.B.I. Ernestine enjoyed cooking and her grandchildren loved her spaghetti and meatballs. She did beautiful crochet work. Her little kitty, Suzie, was her pride and joy. Ernestine will be remembered by her many friends as a generous, loving soul. Ernestine's first husband, Leo R. Gadoua, died on April 9, 1946. Her second husband, Harry L. Cain, died on October 26, 1971. Her sons, Gary Cain, Leo Gadoua, daughter Rose Allen, and grandson Jim Hankin also died earlier. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jeff Dafoe of Camillus, Joyce and John McGraw of Lakeland and Theresa and Jim Hankin of Elbridge; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2005 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Sunday, May 15, 2005 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
