Ermenegildo "Gildo" Martilotta

Ermenegildo Gildo Martilotta, 69, of Syracuse, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Born on Wednesday, May 24, 1939, he was the son of Armando Martilotta and Antonietta Turko Martilotta. He was raised in Cetraro, Italy,and moved to the Syracuse area in 1968. Gildo started cutting hair at age 11 in his father's barber shop. He was a barber for 40 years with Hair Studio 5 in Camillus, formerly His & Hers Barber & Beauty Shop where he made countless lifelong friends. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Gildo enjoyed many sports and was a big follower of West Genesee High School lacrosse. Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Steven Martilotta and David and Stephanie Martilotta, all of Camillus; his former wife, Teresa Salomone of Camillus; brothers and sisters-in-law, Antonio and Concetta Martilotta, Lido Martilotta and Vittorio and Assunta Martilotta; and sister and brother-in-law, Angelina and Gino Pepe, all of Cetraro, Italy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2008 at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
