Elwin "Howie" Howard Moore, 89, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Elderwood at Liverpool. Born in Boston, MA, he lived most of his life in the Syracuse and Camillus areas. Howie was a 1950 graduate of Valley High School and retired after 39 years from Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. A communicant of Holy Family Church, he was involved in a variety of church activities and was the gardener on the grounds. An avid golfer, Howie played on the Holy Family Golf League for many years. He also coached the Camillus Youth Hockey for 25 years and enjoyed genealogy.
Howie was predeceased by his brother, Alvah H. Seymour.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, the former Norma Martin; daughter, Kathleen (Jack) Guthrie of Camillus; sons, John (Marcia) Moore of Camillus, Gerald (Clare) Moore of Auburn and Christopher Moore of Syracuse; sister, Ellen Medicis of Liverpool; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Seymour; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, April 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Face coverings are required.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 28 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. A graveside service will be Saturday, May 1 at 10 a.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
