Elizabeth "Liz" M. Purdy, 89, of Camillus, passed away Monday, December 9, 2019 at Loretto. Born and raised in Poughkeepsie, she lived several years in the Colonie area of Albany before moving to Camillus. She was a 1948 graduate of New Paltz Central High School and received her bachelor's degree from SUNY New Paltz in 1952. Elizabeth taught fourth grade for a few years at Colonie Central School District. An avid sports fan, she also enjoyed cross-stitching, reading, playing Bridge with friends and cooking. She was a former member of a gourmet cooking club and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, John and Elizabeth Taylor; sister, Marie Cannon; brothers, John and Cornelius Taylor; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Carlson.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Robert; sons, Matthew of Warners, Robert Jr. (Anne) of Kingston Ontario, Canada, Michael (Patricia) of Tucson, AZ and Daniel (Kerry) of Baldwinsville; sisters, Loretta Rugman and Delia (Robert) Murphy of Emerald Isle, NC; grandchildren, Jason, Ruben, Lilli and Nicholas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, December 17 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Elizabeth will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
