Elizabeth "Betty" Palma, 85, of Camillus, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at home. Born in Auburn, she lived in Camillus since 1968. She was a graduate of North High School, SUNY Oswego and received her master's degree from Syracuse University. Betty retired in 1985 after 25 years teaching with the West Genesee Central School District. She was elected to the West Genesee Board of Education. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, she was a member of Altar & Rosary Society. Betty was inducted into the North High School Hall of Fame. She was also a member of the American Red Cross, Camillus Democratic Committee, West Genesee Teachers' Association and the NY State Teachers' Association. Betty loved spending time with her family and extended family. She was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening. Betty was predeceased by her granddaughter, Elizabeth Margaret Andrews; and brother, Jerome Petta. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Ernest; daughter, Nicki (James) Andrews of Afton; son, Mark (Lizetta) of Camillus; sisters, Marion (Patrick) Frascatore of Lakeland and Joan (Luigi) Tumolo of LaFayette; grandchildren, Victoria Palma of Las Vegas, NV, Clayton and Maria Andrews of Afton; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, November 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the church. Betty will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
