Elizabeth Meagher Dempsey, 90, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 at The Centers at St. Camillus. Born in Syracuse, she lived much of her life in Rochester.
Elizabeth attended The Convent School on an academic scholarship and was a graduate of Syracuse University. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she loved traveling, reading and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She retired in 1998 after over 25 years with the NY State Department of Labor, a job she truly loved.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her daughter, Erin Cyrkin; and sister, Joyce Kenney.
Surviving are her daughter, Martha (Matthew) Costello; son, Mark (Nancy) Dempsey; son-in-law, Cary Cyrkin; brother, John Meagher; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, May 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Elizabeth will be laid to rest in Maplewood Cemetery, Camillus.
The family wishes to convey their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at St. Camillus for the care and attention they provided Elizabeth.
