Elizabeth C. Furth, 100, of Camillus passed away Thursday. She was born in Elmira on July 11, 1921, to Rev. Edward M. and Alice Cullinan. Betty was a lifetime resident of the Central New York area, living for the last 57 years in Camillus.
In 1938 she graduated from North High School where she met her best friend, Jean Lorber Woodard, as well as several other lifelong friends. Betty then attended Syracuse University and her love for SU lasted her lifetime. She was an avid and loyal supporter of SU football and basketball, holding season tickets for more than 30 years.
Betty was employed with Ethan Allen Manor House and later worked for Stickley Furniture until her retirement. She then volunteered at Community General Hospital and for ECHO Meals on Wheels.
Betty was a charter member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and remained an active member as long as she was able.
She was most happy when surrounded by her family and thoroughly enjoyed hosting large family holiday dinners well into her 80’s.
Betty was predeceased by her husbands, Stanley McCarroll, Robert Furth, and former husband, Edward Gravius; grandson, Jamie Sutor; great grandson, Ross Burgess; brothers, Edward and Robert Cullinan.
She was a loving mother and grandmother to her surviving children and grandchildren: daughters, Sandra (Donald) Sutor and Christine (Michael) Serafini; sons, Christopher (Denise) Gravius, Mark Gravius, and Todd (Eva) Gravius; grandchildren, Pamela, Debra, Brandon, Justin, Marie, Adrienne, Paul, Timothy, and Sarah; great grandchildren, Scott, Beth, Kara, Olivia, Mia, Cole; a great-great granddaughter on the way; a bonus great-great grandson, Abiel; one nephew and one niece.
Services and burial will be private.
