Elena T. DeVivo, 81, of Fairmount, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Pagani, Italy, she moved to Auburn in 1960 and lived in Fairmount since the '70s. Elena retired in 1992 from Van Duyn Home & Hospital. A communicant of Holy Family Church, she was chairwoman of Human Development and enjoyed cooking for the annual Election Day pasta dinner and Ash Wednesday soup supper. Elena was predeceased by her son, Joseph, in 2015. Surviving are her daughters, Tina (Kenneth) DeVivo-Greig of Connecticut and Mary Jo (John) DeVivo-Scaia of Onondaga Hill; brother, Alfonso (Angelica) Tortora of Pagani, Italy; grandchildren, Olivia, Brian, Taylor, Emily and Stephanie; and the Tortora family of Auburn, NY. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, February 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Wednesday, February 17 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Elena will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
