Eleanor “Nelly” Ann Dow, 68, of Jamesville, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Loretto. Born in Binghamton and raised in Syracuse, she was the youngest child of the late Robert F. and Mary Agnes Dow. Nelly was a graduate of Bishop Ludden High School and received a degree in psychology from Canisius College in Buffalo. She was employed with Joseph E. Strauss Co. and later served as VP and general manager of the Comcast Muzak franchise in Buffalo. Nelly was a member of the Junior League of Buffalo and the Buffalo Executives Assoc. Her first and favorite love was family. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by family, especially at Skaneateles Lake while playing Trivial Pursuit, floating in the lake, taking the kids water skiing or going to Skan-Ellus for ice cream. Nelly was truly the center and life of many parties and family gatherings and was adored by her nieces and nephews as the "cool aunt."
Nelly suffered a stroke in 2004 and her remaining years were not easy, but her family will remember her as she was before, always laughing, teasing and ready to play.
Nelly was predeceased by her sister, Mary Cilano; brothers, Robert G. and Thomas K. Dow; and nephew, Patrick Dow.
Surviving are her brother, Michael Dow; sisters-in-law, Donna and Sabine Dow; brother-in-law, Fr. Richard Cilano; nieces and nephews, Christine Dow Rothemich, Patrick Dow, Colleen Dow, Beth Dow Shannon, Michael Dow, Kristin Cilano Bellis, Robert Cilano, Mary Katherine Cilano Psaute and Anne Cilano Thomas; special cousins, Sally Thurston, Betty Drotar, Molly McCarthy; and many others.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, August 21 at 9:30 a.m. in The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
