Eileen (Tompkins) Shackleton, 75, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday at home. A lifetime resident of the the Syracuse area, she graduated from Jordan-Elbridge High School. Eileen was employed as a library aide for the West Genesee School District for over 30 years. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, baking, and cooking, but above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, John W. Shackleton; parents, James and Roberta Tompkins; and sister, Mary Lou Tompkins.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Mark Dobie of Warners; son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Jay" and Michelle Shackleton of Camillus; granddaughters, Kaylee, Deanna and Rachael; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Ed Daniszewski of Solvay, Rosemary and Dennis Kelly of Moravia, and Marsha Tompkins of Elbridge; brothers and in-laws, Bruce and Ruth of Syracuse, Carl of Memphis, Michael and Prudy of Fort Myers, FL, James and Brenda of Jordan, Mark and Steve of Odessa, TX, Randy of Elbridge, and Ernie and Kelly of Auburn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, June 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be private.
Eileen will be laid to rest with her husband, John, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
