Edwin Elliott Roulston, Sr., 95 of Syracuse passed away after a brief illness Tuesday, at St. Joseph’s hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Part of the greatest generation, Ed was born and raised in Malden, MA. After serving in WW2, he graduated from Boston University, becoming the first member of his family to earn a college degree. Ed was employed by General Electric where he was privileged to see the world before raising his family in Syracuse. After retirement, he became a successful real estate investor and renovated several homes in the city. Ed’s easy going, kind demeanor made him a friend to everyone and was often called the best landlord they've ever known. He enjoyed vacations in Cape Cod and wintering in Naples, FL where he enjoyed relaxing, spending time with friends and grandchildren, playing bridge and golf...where he was known for his devastating short game.
Ed is predeceased by his lovely wife, Dorothy of 66 years; brother, George; and grandson, Matthew Hynes.
He is survived by his daughters, Ellen (Robert) Hynes of Tully, Debbie Erhardt of Camillus; son, Edwin “Ned” Roulston; and grandchildren, Timothy Hynes and Sean and Connor Erhardt.
There will be no calling hours. A private funeral will be held at St Mary's cemetery, DeWitt.
