Edward W. Peck

Edward W. Peck, 91, of Oneida and formerly of Fairmount Hills, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Oneida Healthcare Center. Born in Syracuse on Monday, October 15, 1917, he was the son of Lee Peck and Hattie Lemke Peck. He lived in Fairmount and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina until moving to Oneida in 1993. A graduate of St. Vincent DePaul School, Edward was an Army 1st sergeant during World War II. He retired from Crucible Steel Corp. after more than 40 years. He was a former communicant of Holy Family Church in Fairmount. An avid golfer and former avid bowler, he enjoyed spending time with his family. His first wife, Barbara, died in 1992. Surviving are his wife of 16 years, the former June Thomas Clarke; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Sandy Van Horn of Syracuse, Diane and Jerry Biamonte of Fairport and Janice and Tom Hannig of Weedsport; sons, William of Winter Haven, Florida and Robert of Des Moines, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
