Edward M. Roach, 71, of Camillus, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at Upstate University Community Campus. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of St. Lucy's Academy. He served four years in the Navy, twenty-four years in the Coast Guard and was a member of the American Legion.
Edward was employed ten years with Onondaga County Dept. of Social Services. He enjoyed reading, taking cruises with his wife, was an avid SU sports fan, and an American history buff but above all, loved spending time with his family.
Edward was predeceased by his brother, John “Jack” Roach.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Mary Pat Commins; sons, Michael and Scott, both of Syracuse and Chuck of NYC; brother, Joseph (Patricia) of Central Square; grandson, Jesse Lamana; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, January 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Thursday, January 4 at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home and 12:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Edward will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
