Edward R. Loos, 78, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday at home. Born in Syracuse, he lived in Camillus for most of his life. A 1962 graduate of St. John the Baptist Academy in Syracuse, Edward also received a bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne College and a master’s degree from SUNY Cortland. He taught secondary mathematics for three years at Bishop Grimes School District and seven years at Gillette Road Middle School. Edward later worked in the investment business, for five years at Merrill Lynch & Co., then 20 years at Tucker Anthony, Inc. He served on the Board of Regents at Le Moyne College, received the 2018 Ignatian Award for service to Le Moyne College, and was a life member of the Pastime Athletic Club. An active communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, he served as a Eucharistic minister, and lector and conducted classes studying New Testament scripture and five of Anthony de Mello’s books.
Edward was predeceased in 2011 by his wife, Susan; and parents, Edward and Caroline Loos.
Surviving are several cousins whom he was especially close to; and numerous good friends, including his St. Joseph’s “family”.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, October 26, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church. A funeral Mass will follow at the church.
Edward will be laid to rest privately in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
