Edward J. Lundy Jr.

Edward J. Lundy Jr., 93, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015 at home.  A lifetime resident of the Solvay/Camillus area, he was a graduate of Solvay High School and a Navy veteran of World War II. Ed retired after 20 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Warners. A communicant of Holy Family Church, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Tom Dooley AOH division one.  He was past commander of the American Legion Knifetown Post #1540 and former member of the Camillus Optimists.  Ed was involved in a variety of youth organizations but above all, enjoyed spending time with his family. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Gertrude Lundy; and brother, Wallace Lundy. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, the former Mary Murphy; daughter, Kathleen Lucas of Camillus; sons, Dennis (Rose) of LaFayette and Edward (Kristen) of New Port Richey, FL; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Monday, May 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Tuesday at 9:15 at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated.  Ed will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Edward's name to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
