Edward Gerald Zollo, 57, formerly of Westvale, passed away March 29, 2012 at the Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida, after a battle with esophageal cancer. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of West Genesee High School where he played trombone in the marching band and was a member of the inaugural hockey team. Ed graduated with honors from Onondaga Community College and from Syracuse University. He worked at the Syracuse Holiday Inn and was manager of Solvay Recreation Alleys before moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was employed by Simon Property Group at the Galleria Mall. Surviving are his 13 siblings, Ruth Christine (Shlomo) Shinnar, Mary Walker, Elizabeth (Daniel) Barriere, Sally (Susan) Zollo, Teresa (Alan) Zollo, Megan Pellenz, Daniel, Phillip (Lorraine) Jr., Thomas (Sharon), John (Lori), James, Joseph (J.P.), and Leonard; aunts, Olga Kinsella, Carmel Zollo, Theresa Capucilli, Rose Capucilli and Teresa Bunce; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, May 18, at Hendricks Chapel, Syracuse University, followed by graveside prayers at St Agnes Cemetery. A reception to celebrate Edward’s life will be held following the graveside service.
