Edward Andrew Popcun, 64, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2017 in the log cabin he built, surrounded by his family and friends. Ed worked as a mechanic for 43 years, retiring in 2016. He loved the outdoors, riding his bike and fishing. One of his favorite places was the Adirondacks. Ed was a longtime parishioner of The Church of St. Michael & St. Peter on Onondaga Hill. He will be remembered for his smile, selfless, giving spirit and devotion to his family.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 40 years, Patti; daughter, Melissa Popcun; son, Edward (Erin) Popcun Jr.; grandchildren, Meara Roach and Nathan and Shannon Popcun; parents, Edward R. and Helen Popcun; mother-in-law, Pat Brown; sisters, Michele Popcun and Maryanne (Dennis) Kravitz; brother, James Popcun; three nephews; and extended family and close friends.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, September 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 8 at 11 a.m. in The Church of St. Michael & St. Peter, 4782 West Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse.
