Edna DeRose, 86, of Fairmount, passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at home. Born in Sterling, New York on Monday, June 8, 1925, she was the daughter of Thomas Edmond Doyle and Emma Catherine Goodrich Doyle. She lived in the Westvale and Fairmount areas most of her life and was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Edna, along with her husband, Anthony, owned and operated Tony’s Fine Food at the New York State Fair. She loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed going to the casino, reading, playing cards, Bingo, and spending her winters in Florida. Edna was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Joseph DeRose Sr. on November 30, 2008; and her grandson, Matthew DeRose. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and James Smith and Kathleen and Sam Gonzalez, all of Syracuse; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Linda DeRose Jr. of Oswego and Daniel and Kathy DeRose of Syracuse; sister, Margaret Mazur of Fairmount; grandchildren, Anthony III (Stephanie), Timothy (Jodi), Ryan (Sara), Benjamin, Daniel, Jamie (Ben) Norris, Patrick Smith, and Maria and Emily Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Lilliana DeRose and Cristian and Carli Norris; and her beloved dog, Barney. Relatives and friends may call Friday, August 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 13 at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Edna will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
