Edgar J. "Schmed" Michalak, 65, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 at home with his devoted wife by his side. Born in Lafayette, LA on October 12, 1951, he was the son of the late, Jan and Rozalia (Wigowski) Michalak.
Edgar was an avid fisherman and an active member of an amputee support group, helping those with his strong spirit and even larger sense of humor. He retired from Crucible Steel after 32 years. Above all, Edgar was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, the former Patricia Kelly; daughter, Kathryn Michalak of Astoria; son, Christopher Michalak of Chicago, IL; sister, Donna (Michael) Bronchetti of Liverpool; twin brother, Edward (Janice) Michalak of Solvay; grandson, Elliot Michalak; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, December 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Thursday, December 15 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Edgar will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
