Earle “Sam” John Crowell, 77, of Baldwinsville, departed this earth to make his heavenly tee time on Thursday. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he retired in 2001, after 34 years as an operations supervisor at Bristol-Myers Squibb. During his 22 years of retirement, he travelled with his wife, Linda, and enjoyed watching his six grandchildren grow from babies to adults. He loved the 42 years he spent at his summer residence on the St. Lawrence River. An avid golfer and SU fan, he instilled the love of golf and fair play to his grandchildren. His motto was “The most important hole in golf is the next one!”
Sam was predeceased by his parents, Earle and Muriel Crowell.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, the former Linda Heiser; daughters, Christine Moen (Jason Tomeny) of Liverpool and Kimberly DiPaola (David) of Camillus; grandchildren, Catherine, Abigail and Olivia Moen and Michael, Timothy and Erin DiPaola; siblings, Catherine (David) Hope of Tennessee, Ellen (Thomas) Mahoney of California, John (Isae) Crowell of Florida, Teresa (Carlos) Spurlin of Georgia and Carolyn (Keith) Shirley of Colorado; several nieces and nephews; and special granddogs, Finn Moen and Brooks DiPaola.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, aides and staff at Crouse Hospital, H.O.A. and Francis House for their love, care and compassion for Earle.
Services will be private.
