E. Margaret “Peg” Fear, 88, of Camillus, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. Born in Malone on Monday, March 27, 1922, she was the daughter of Henry Arthur Coughlin and Kathleen Cecelia Sweeney Coughlin. She lived in the Syracuse area most of her life. Peg was a graduate of SUNY College of Technology at Canton and was the first woman to graduate in the Chemistry program. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a former member of St. Michael's Church and its funeral luncheon guild. A former Cub Scout den mother, she also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Peg was predeceased by her husband, Robert, 1998; son, Robert Jr., 1948; sisters, Carmelita Verwey, 1985 and Rita Zerecker, 2003. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Joyce of Gansevoort, Barry and Rosanne of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bruce of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Alan of Richardson, Texas and Brendan and Terri of Oswego; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Steve Ambrose of Penfield, Sheila and Steve Kelly of Kirkville and Susan and Paul Serrao of Camillus; sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia Kolb of Horseheads and Theresa and Robert Whalen of Redbank, New Jersey; brothers-in-law, Thomas Zerecker of Nyack and John (Mary) Fear of North Syracuse; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, May 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Friday, May 7 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Peg will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
