Duane C. Hahn, 89, of Jordan passed away peacefully at Auburn Community Hospital on Tuesday after a brief illness.
Duane was born on July 4, 1935, in Syracuse, the eldest child of Samuel A. and Edith P. Hahn. He grew up in Onondaga Hill, attended Onondaga Schools, and served in the U.S. Army. In 1963, Duane met his wife, Gertrude Loucks, and they married on May 22, 1965, in Syracuse. He worked at Allied Chemical in Solvay for 21 years, operated a family farm, and was a longtime member and elder of Auburn Alliance Church.
Duane was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Gertrude, in 2010; sister, Marjorie Stearns; and brothers, Gerald Sr. and Lyn.
He is survived by his son, David Hahn of Jordan; daughter, Deborah (Michael) Bertasso of Latham; grandson, Gregory Bertasso; brother, Richard (Phyllis) Hahn of Middleburg, FL; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11 a.m. in Auburn Alliance Church, 630 N. Seward Ave., Auburn.
