Douglas D. Currie, 95, of Baldwinsville, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place. Born in Buffalo, he was raised in Syracuse and moved to Camillus in 1955, where he met his neighbors who would become lifelong friends. He most recently resided in Baldwinsville. Doug was a graduate of Cathedral Academy and a Navy veteran of WWII. He earned his bachelor's degree from Sienna College and attended Seton Hall and Syracuse University. Doug was an engineer for the General Electric Co. for 38 years before retiring in 1989. He was an usher and Eucharistic minister at St. Joseph's Church in Camillus. Doug also volunteered at Meals on Wheels of Syracuse. He enjoyed golfing, GE Elfun luncheons, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was known and loved for his kind, caring, generous and gentle nature and will be forever missed.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Agnes Currie; and brother, Richard Currie.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 68 years, the former Lucy Bukowy; daughters, Susan Roche of Camillus and Carol Olech of Fairmount; son, David (Madelaine Cherry) of Ottawa; sister, Colleen (Frank) Currie-Turner; grandchildren, Phillipe and Danielle Currie, Natalie Roche and Nicole, Megan and Lauren Olech; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
