Dorothy Ann Rucker Winters, “Dot”, left our world on Tuesday at the age of 81. Other than her family, she was most proud of her wonderful cookbook, The Old Caterer's Favorite Hors d'oeuvres, and her career as a caterer in Columbus, Ohio. Born in Columbia, SC, Dot was lured by love to the land of "those damn Yankees." She leaves with us the memories of her humor, southern charm, devotion to great food, and her amazing ability to make that food. Dorothy leaves behind her children, Sherri Winters (Don Glitsis), Karen Winters Schwartz (Paul Schwartz), Doug Winters (Debbie Milano); and grandchildren, Emily Schwartz, Sarah Schwartz Dillabough (Joe Dillabough), and Brett Winters. A commemoration will be held Sunday, September 29, at her childhood home in Lake Murray, SC. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus. Contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Iroquois Nursing Home, 4600 Southwood Heights, Jamesville, NY 13078, where she was greatly loved and supported.
