Doris Giovanni, 88, of Camillus, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013. She was born in Amsterdam, New York on Monday, December 29, 1924 and was the daughter of Richard Davis and Theresa (Cohen) Davis. She lived in Amsterdam, until she moved to Camillus in 2003. Doris was a graduate of W.H. Lynch High School. After many years at home raising her children, she returned to work at the Greater Amsterdam School District where she was employed at both McNulty and Clara S. Bacon Elementary Schools. She retired in 1979, at which time she and her husband, Armand, spent many happy winters in Sarasota, Florida. Doris brought much joy to everyone she met. She enjoyed being with her family and also loved the beach, playing bocce with friends, and watching the NY Yankees. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Armand William Giovanni, on May, 4, 2004; son, David, in 1954; sisters, Helen Oaksford, Vivian Clark, Winifred Coffey and Jean Miller; and brother, Wallace Davis. Surviving are her daughters, Kathryn Giovanni Davis of Camillus and Mary Giovanni (Joseph) Rode of Baltimore, Maryland; sister, Kathryn (Raymond) Depa of Waynesboro, Virginia; beloved grandsons, Joseph McKinley and Alex William Rode; and many loved nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours or local services. Private burial will take place in Amsterdam at the convenience of the family.
