Donald “Dago” S. Slonosky, 71, of Elbridge, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019, surrounded by his family. A lifetime resident of Camillus, he was a graduate of West Genesee High School, ESF and OCC. He was an Army veteran of Vietnam. Donald worked at Community General Hospital for 37 years, retiring in 2004 as director of plant operations and engineering. He also worked at the Landmark Theatre until 2018. Donald was active with Boy Scouts Troop 52 in Elbridge and a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. He was a former member of the Camillus Elks and Camillus Fire Dept. Donald enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and hunting. He was an avid NASCAR, SU football and basketball and Miami Dolphins fan. He was a great cook and grill master for parties and NASCAR races. Donald was known as the “go to guy” for refrigerator and air conditioning work.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Nicoleta (Santaferra) Slonosky.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra “Trow”; son, “the boy,” Stephen; “favorite sister,” Anita (Joe) Babiec; awesome brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all the family, friends and coworkers who were so supportive these last few months; for the many meals, groceries, repairs, plowing, calls, texts, cards and visits.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, March 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
