Donald P. Scanlon, 85, of Syracuse, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018
at home, surrounded by his loving family. Donald served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and returned to earn his bachelor's degree from Syracuse University. He owned D.P. Scanlon Associates for 40 years.
Donald was an avid golfer, hunter, and sports enthusiast and would take on any project around the house. Above all, he loved spending time with family. Donald was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Marie Scanlon and sister, Joanne Sheppard.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Janine; his children, Mark (Ann Birdlebough) of Syracuse, Nancy of Syracuse, Margret of Charleston, SC; and Marcia (Patrick Hohl) of Syracuse; sister, Margaret Hall of Maitland, FL; brother, John (Mary) Scanlon of Seneca Falls; grandchildren, Carolyn (Joseph) Volpe, John Scanlon and Brandon, Morgan and Bridget Hohl; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, November 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 24 at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Burial will take place in the spring.
