Donald M. Taylor, 79, of Elbridge, passed away peacefully at home on Monday May 7, 2012. Born in Binghamton to Russell and Iverenne Taylor on Monday, November 7, 1932, Don was a State Farm Insurance agent for 30 years. He was a longtime member of the Camillus Rotary Club, Camillus Optimist Club, American Legion and Camillus Elks Club. He volunteered for the Camillus Rotary Club Meals on Wheels and also distributed turkeys at Thanksgiving and sold trees at Christmas. Don proudly served in the Korean War as an E-3 seaman on the USS Snyder and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He enjoyed his winter home in Naples, Florida, as well as traveling, camping, fishing, golf and SU football. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Helen Gould Taylor; daughter, Yvonne L. Taylor of Burdett; stepchildren, Patricia (Russell) Oakes, Timothy Gould, William (Jan) Gould and Kevin (Gail) Gould; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Taylor of Orange, California. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge Dr. Benny Wong, Lexi and all the staff at Brittonfield for their compassionate care. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, May 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 11 at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Fairmount. Don will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
