Donald Joseph Kuhl, 85, lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at University Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Monday, August 1, 1927, he was the son of William Kuhl and Elizabeth (Schultz) Kuhl. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Donald retired in 1987 from Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. after more than 40 years. He was a former communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, and St. Michael's Church, Onondaga Hill, and former Boy Scout leader. Donald was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, the former Geraldine Myrto, on June 16, 2008; six sisters and one brother. Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Nancy Kuhl of Fayetteville, and David and Patricia Kuhl of Oswego; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Kent Thayer of Broomfield, Colorado; grandchildren, Jonathan, Kelley, Stephen, Ian, David, Lori and Jennifer; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday, January 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in The Church of St. Michael & St. Peter with Rev. Henry J. Pedzich officiating. Donald will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery.
