Donald C. Holtsbery

Donald C. Holtsbery, 80, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday at home.

Born and raised in Syracuse, Don was a proud graduate of Eastwood High School. He spent over 20 years working as a forklift operator at New Process Gear, where he formed lasting friendships and took great pride in his work. A devoted communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, his faith was an important part of his life.

Don had a deep appreciation for good movies and television, often finding joy in the stories they told. He loved shopping at specialty stores, always searching for unique finds. A passionate cook, Don enjoyed preparing meals for his family and friends, filling their hearts and homes with warmth. He also had a love for dancing, embracing every opportunity to take to the dance floor.

Above all, Don cherished his time with family, especially the gatherings at the beloved “Gigi Fest”, where laughter and love were always in abundance. His kind heart, sense of humor, and generous spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Don was predeceased by his parents, DeRaine and Helyn Zimmerman; brothers, Jon Holtsbery and Robert Kent; sister, Mary Lynn Raiti; and companion, Marcia Stassi.

Surviving are his son, Michael (Candace) of Liverpool; brother, Richard (Betty) of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Jennifer (Edward) Hemmerlein and Michael (Catarina) Walter; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

To celebrate Donald’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Harter Funeral Home, Inc., 9525 S. Main St., Brewerton.
