Donald D. Brown, Sr.

Donald D. Brown, Sr., 73, of Westvale, died at Francis House on June 6, 2006. He was the son of the late Rose and Harold Brown. Donald was a graduate of Assumption High School in 1951 and LeMoyne College in 1958 and an Army veteran. He retired as an accountant from the New York State Department of Social Services in 1989. Don was a daily communicant and a member of St. Charles Borromeo parish where he served as an usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Christ the King Council #4114, an associate of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception and a volunteer at the St. Camillus Nursing Home. An avid golfer, Donald was a member of the Assumption Golf League and the G.K. Moore Golf League. Don was predeceased by his daughter, Sister Mary Therese Brown, mfic, in 2003 and his sister, Jane E. Jaquin in 2005. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Joan Bowen Brown; three sons, Kevin (Mary Ann), Edward (Carolyn) and Donald Jr. (Lauren); five grandchildren, Michael, Luke, Sean, Claudia Therese and Ava Rose Brown; brother, Harold Brown; brother-in-law, Charles Jaquin and several devoted nieces and nephews. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2006 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Thursday, June 8, 2006 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
