Donald Harold Cook, 93, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, his journey began at Central High School Class of 1948. Donald earned a Professional Engineering certificate. He was a manufacturing engineer at R.E. Dietz Co. Previously, he was vice president of operations at Camillus Cutlery.
Beyond his professional achievements, Donald was an active member of the Camillus and Elbridge Rod and Gun Clubs. He was also a former member of the Free Masons in Rochester. Donald enjoyed activities like hunting, fishing, boating, and traveling. Above all, his greatest source of happiness was spending quality time with his family.
Donald will be deeply missed by all who have known him.
Donald was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, June, in 2013; and son, Timothy, in 2007.
Surviving are his son, Dave (Amy) Cook; daughters, Kathleen (Thomas) Chappini and Christine (Robert) Archung Sawicki; grandchildren, Steve Clark, Kaitlin Mattes, Cassidy Chappini, Mason Cook, and Paris and Damond Archung; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, January 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home.
Donald will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
