Donald A. Stebbins, 65, of Westvale, devoted husband and loving father of Elizabeth and Mark, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009. Born in Auburn on Tuesday, November 16, 1943, he was the son of Harold Stebbins and Lola May Corbett Stebbins. After spending his early years in Auburn, he lived in the Camillus-Westvale area most of his life. A 1961 graduate of Auburn High School, Donald was a lifelong educator. He received a bachelor's degree and master's degree, both from Oswego State. He was principal at Stonehedge School in the West Genesee Central School District and supervisor of student teachers at SUNY Cortland. A member of the N.Y.S. Administrators' Association, Donald retired in July 2006 after 41 years in the West Genesee School District. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, the former Elva Accarino; daughter, Elizabeth E. Stebbins; son, Mark D. Stebbins, all of Westvale; sisters and brother-in-law, Carol and Angelo Falcone and Marilyn Baran, all of Auburn; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Dottie Stebbins of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Lola Stebbins. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2009 in St. Joseph’s Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Private burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn.
