Dolores Orzell Hayes

Dolores Orzell Hayes, 78, of Onondaga Hill, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Syracuse on December 13, 1925, she was the daughter of Joseph Orzell and Marie Theresa Filipiak. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and communicant of St. Michael's Church, Onondaga Hill. Dolores was also an auxiliary member and long-time supporter of the Chadwick Residence, and had been active with Vera House. An avid golfer, she was a member of the West Hill Ladies Golf League.A devoted wife and homemaker, Dolores took great pride and joy in her children and grandchildren, and was active in their lives. Genealogy, sewing, and gardening were also among her interests.Her husband, Carl A. Hayes, passed away in January, and son James in 1981. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Orzell.Surviving are her daughters: Roberta Zerrahn of Farmington, Nancy (Ralph) Cinnamon of Onondaga Hill; sons: J. Kevin (Mary) of Camillus, Robert (Judy) of Liverpool, Patrick (Christine) of Weedsport and Douglas of Onondaga Hill; 16 grandchildren: C.J. Hillebrant, Joanne Haremza, Jeffrey Hayes, Emily Hayes, Stacey Hayes, Eric Cinnamon, Andrea Cinnamon, Brian Cinnamon, Jamie Hayes, Daniel Hayes, Patrick Hayes, Stephen Hayes, Amanda Wirth, Whitney Wirth, Aaron Wirth and Jakob Wirth and several nieces and nephews.Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2004 at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Sunday, October 10, 2004 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
