On a beautiful Memorial Day morning, the Lord called back Dolores Burgess to his kingdom. Dolores was born on August 24, 1940 as Dolores Dlugozima, daughter of the late Stanley and Sofia Dlugozima and sister of the late Stanley Jr. Dolores grew up on the east side of town where she met Richard Burgess and was married at the age of 20 on May 21, 1960. She was active in the Polish community by becoming an officer for the PRUCA and volunteering at Holy Family Church. She was a devoted wife and mother, raising three children while working for Monroe Title and Abstract. Dolores loved to travel and explore with her husband and family. They spent their time camping, boating, fishing, antiquing and going to bookstores. Maine was her favorite destination and she and the family have many fond memories of walking the beaches and whale watching.
Dolores always brought joy, love and peace wherever she went. She was a beautiful soul and will be sorely missed by all.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Richard; children, Lisa (Doug) Clark, David Burgess and Timothy (Julie) Burgess; and several grandchildren.
Per Dolores’ wishes, there will be no calling hours and services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of CNY, 441 West Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
