Dejan Topalovic, 36, of Syracuse, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at University Hospital. Born in Bosnia, he moved to Syracuse in 1997. A 2002 graduate of Westhill High School, Dejan earned his associate degree from St. Elizabeth College of Nursing, bachelor’s degree from Grand Canyon University and Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner from SUNY Polytechnic Institute. His passion for helping others was complemented in his career in healthcare, starting at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center and most recently at the Syracuse VA Medical Center as a nurse practitioner. Dejan also worked at the Refugee Assistance Program, translating and helping the Bosnian community. He enjoyed traveling, sports and playing soccer with his healthcare professionals, but above all, loved spending time with family and friends.
Dejan was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Began Dzebo; paternal grandfather, Bozo Topalovic; and cousin, Haris Kahrimanovic.
Surviving are his wife of six years, the former Anna Robson; parents, Stojan and Begija Topalovic; parents-in-law, Danny Robson and Susan Gordon; son, Julius Topalovic; brother, Bojan Topalovic; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; special uncle, Bego Dzebo; and many friends and co-workers.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, January 16 from 10 a.m. to noon in St. George Macedonian Orthodox Church, 5083 Onondaga Rd., Syracuse.
Services will be private. Dejan will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
